Dependency upgrade: mongoose, bullmq, stripe and the rest of the API's stack
Routine dependency maintenance on the API, about 40 packages including several majors. Most upgraded clean; three needed real code changes rather than just a version bump, covered below.
Highlights
- Bullmq 5 to 6: the two scheduled background jobs were moved to the new Job Scheduler API before the old repeat option disappeared under them
- Mongoose 8 to 9: about 85 call sites updated for stricter ObjectId typing across campaigns, automation, messaging and subscriptions
- The pinned Stripe API version was bumped to match the v22 SDK; billing flows are being verified by hand in test mode
- Ioredis, redis, nodemailer, bull-board, isolated-vm and roughly 30 other packages updated with no code changes needed
- TypeScript held back at 5.9 for now; 7.x removes the path-alias setup this project depends on and is being migrated separately

Dependency upgrade across the API: mongoose, bullmq, stripe and the rest of the stack
A scheduled upgrade of about 40 packages, including several majors: mongoose 8 to 9, bullmq 5 to 6, ioredis and redis 5 to 6, stripe 20 to 22, nodemailer 8 to 10, bull-board 6 to 9, isolated-vm 6 to 7, and js-yaml, ejs, csv-parse and uuid one major each. TypeScript stayed on 5.9 for now: 7 removes baseUrl and node10 module resolution outright, which the project's path aliases depend on, and that migration is being done as its own piece of work rather than folded in here.
What we changed:
- BullMQ 6 removes the repeat option on Queue.add entirely along with the old Repeat class and getRepeatableJobs/removeRepeatable. The two scheduled jobs that poll for a server restart and sample platform status every 10 and 60 seconds were moved to the new Job Scheduler API (upsertJobScheduler), which is idempotent by scheduler id, so a redeploy updates the existing schedule instead of risking a duplicate.
- Mongoose 9 tightened ObjectId typing so it no longer casts loosely to string. About 85 call sites across campaigns, automation, messaging, subscriptions and the WhatsApp sync jobs were updated to cast through unknown, which is the fix mongoose's own compiler error points at and changes nothing at runtime.
